Job Title: Materials Scientist - Fire Retardant Coating Developer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Scientist to join our team as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Future Materials. The successful candidate will conduct research in fire-retardant coatings, providing expertise in Chemical Synthesis, Materials Science, Polymer Science, and Nanotechnologies.

The role involves designing, synthesizing, characterizing, and modeling materials, with a focus on developing advanced fire-retardant coatings for high-rise buildings. You will be responsible for communicating your findings to the Australian Research Council and contributing to research proposals for external funding providers.

You will also publish research findings in high-quality journal publications, establish collaborative research partnerships, and engage with the composite community and other stakeholders.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • An Honours degree or higher qualification in Materials Science, Engineering, Polymer Science, or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • High-level research expertise in fire retardants, fire-retardant coatings/polymers, including excellent practical laboratory skills, data acquisition, interpretation, and analysis
  • A strong publication record and engagement in national and international conferences
  • Ability to engage effectively with the composite community and other key external stakeholders
