Job Overview

The role of a Personal Care Worker is to support residents in living their life with choice and independence, while also providing physical, emotional and lifestyle needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Living Support: Assist residents with daily living activities such as personal care and hygiene
  • Resident Needs Assessment: Contribute to the physical, emotional and lifestyle needs and wants of the residents through assessment and observation
  • Clinical Interventions: Implement clinical and care interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse and documented in the resident's plan of care
  • Support Independence: Assist residents with their personal care and hygiene needs while encouraging independence
Requirements
  • A Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage with residents and experience in dementia support
  • Effective Communication: Effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Workload Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads
  • Flexibility and Empathy: Demonstrated flexibility, empathy and patience with aged persons and their needs
  • Holistic Care: Demonstrated ability to provide holistic care
  • Respect for Residents: Demonstrated respect for residents' privacy, dignity and self-esteem
  • Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Health and Safety: Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
