Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Recommendations team at Canva. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge machine learning projects and make a significant impact on the user experience.

About the Role

This role will focus on designing, implementing, and refining machine learning models to deliver personalized recommendations. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate and deploy new features and enhancements. Your expertise in programming languages such as Python, data analysis libraries like PyTorch, pandas, scikit-learn, numpy, and strong analytical skills will be essential in evaluating model performance and making data-driven improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Designing, implementing, and refining machine learning models to deliver personalized recommendations.
  • Optimizing the existing code structure and enhancing the performance of our machine learning systems.
  • Investigating research papers and state-of-the-art machine learning models and applying them to Canva.
  • Conducting online and offline experiments to validate model performance and make data-driven adjustments.
  • Ensuring seamless integration and performance across our technology stack.
  • Collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to integrate and deploy new recommendation features.
Requirements
  • A proven track record of developing and optimizing machine learning models, especially in the context of recommendation systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with data analysis libraries like PyTorch, pandas, scikit-learn, numpy.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in evaluating model performance and making data-driven improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for working with cross-functional teams.
