**Clinical Coding Professional**
We are seeking a skilled Clinical Coding Professional to join our team. As a key member of our coding department, you will be responsible for accurately assigning and recording diagnosis and intervention codes for inpatient discharges using the electronic health record as source.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assign and record diagnosis and intervention codes using relevant guidelines and per Health Department requirements, timely and accurate.
- Ensure accurate entry of coded information into our Patient Management System, create documentation queries, and participate in ongoing audit program.
- Attend and participate in continuing education programs relevant to clinical coding, including regular peer reviews.
- Utilize coding software for accurate code and DRG assignment.
- Contribute to editing and verification processes for data submissions to Government data sets, Hospital Casemix Protocol, and Private Hospitals Data Bureau.
**Requirements:**
- A minimum of 2 years recent coding experience, preferably in a tertiary or secondary hospital, with evidence of meeting coding expectations.
- Knowledge of casemix and DRG, and understanding of Australian Coding Standards and clinical coding issues.
- A Clinical Coder qualification, a Bachelor of Health Information Management, or equivalent experience.
