Our Teaching Philosophy

We provide a Prep to Year 6 program that meets the needs of each student. Our teaching focuses on literacy and numeracy skills, with high expectations for all students.

In literacy, we use synthetic phonics to support children to be successful readers and spellers. In the middle and senior years, our teachers implement the Reader¿s workshop model, using differentiated teaching and a focus on every student becoming independent readers.

In Numeracy, our approach uses the Victorian Curriculum with hands-on manipulatives and real-life learning. We strive to develop responsible learners who can adapt to a changing society.

At Kilberry Valley Primary School, we believe in the values of respect, responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, leadership, and human rights. Our staff strive daily to make a positive impact on our students' lives.

Our school wellbeing program includes a Mindfulness room, Regulation Station, and Wellbeing centre. We have a strong focus on social emotional learning to ensure an inclusive environment.

Specialist Programs

Our well-resourced specialist programs include Media Arts, Performing Arts, Physical Education, and Personal and Social Capabilities Program. We have a fully operational TV Studio, two computer labs, media arts space, performing arts rooms, and full-sized gymnasium.

We encourage collaboration and creativity through our diverse range of programs. This enables our students to develop their passions and interests outside of the classroom.
