Senior Medical Scientist

The Department of Health, Tasmania is seeking a skilled Medical Scientist to join the Biochemistry Core Laboratory team at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
This is a permanent full-time shift worker position working 76 hours per fortnight. The successful applicant will work across all areas of the multidisciplinary laboratory, including Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Bank.
- Perform routine and specialized tests in Pathology testing with accurate documentation of results and reports.
- Follow guidelines in reporting results, including telephoning urgent and critical results.
- Assist in the maintenance of procedures, equipment, quality control, and supplies of consumables.
The Medical Scientist will be responsible for:
- Providing diagnostic services in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Bank.
- Working across all areas of the laboratory, including out-of-hours roster and emergency on-call roster.
- Performing routine and specialized tests, with accurate documentation of results and reports.
To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:
- A satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognized tertiary institution.
- Registration with the relevant Board or eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
