About this role:

This Electrical Maintenance Technician plays a vital part in ensuring the reliability and safety of locomotives, rail cars, wagons, plant, and infrastructure.

The technician is responsible for performing routine and corrective maintenance and fault repairs using best practices, adhering to occupational health and safety regulations and technical specifications, maintaining accurate records and documentation of asset conditions, maintenance activities, and costs, reporting completed work against the scheduled program, and contributing to the development and enhancement of work procedures for continuous quality improvement.

Key skills required:

  • Proficiency in computer use
  • Mandatory electrical trade qualification or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in repairing and maintaining locomotives and rolling stock
  • Routine fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, including ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act
