SalaryThe estimated salary for this role is $40,000 - $50,000 per annum, depending on level and location.
Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking various roles to assist with the State Elections next year:
- Issuing Officer: Issues ballot papers to electors on polling day who reside within the district and are on the electoral roll. Also rotates as a ballot box guard and a queue controller.
- Student Electoral Officer: Year 11 or 12 students to assist in polling place duties performed by Officers. Limited hours.
- Voter Information Officer: Engaged centrally through the Electoral Ambassador program; may be assigned to polling places with high concentrations of culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) or indigenous electors; can perform other duties but are largely deployed to assist electors with language, literacy, or other requirements.
- General Assistant: Larger polling places will have one to two General Assistants allocated to them. They may assist with the setup of a polling place on the night before polling for a maximum of three hours. On Polling Day they start at 5:30 pm to assist with the count and pack up.
- Ballot Box Guard: Ensures the correct ballot box papers are put into the ballot boxes (also rotates as issuing officer and queue controller). After 6 pm - becomes a counting officer to conduct the counting of the ballot papers.
- Queue Controller: Manages the queue into the polling place and directs electors as needed (also rotates as an issuing officer and ballot box guard). After 6 pm - becomes counting officer to conduct counting of the ballot papers.
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, assisting with the delivery of a major state election. You will also have access to training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to adapt to changing situations. You will also need to be available to work on polling day and potentially prior to this date for setup and training purposes.
