Job Description

The role of the Commissioning Engineer is crucial to the successful execution and operation of Battery Energy System Storage (BESS) projects. The incumbent will be part of a cross-functional team that focuses on executing battery storage projects with market-leading technologies.

The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for testing and commissioning oversight activities of BESS projects from Pre-Commissioning phase through to Substantial Completion. This includes participating in meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design, and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule.

The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of commissioning and testing of Energy Storage projects. They will be proficient in SCADA systems and associated communication protocols, and have practical hands-on experience in system engineering and solid understanding of related regulatory standards including local code compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning: Participate in meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design, and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule.
  • Commissioning Plans: Assist the Commissioning Manager in preparing commissioning plans, specifications and checklist and functional test documentation based on client and company standards.
  • Equipment Testing: Perform functional testing of all equipment post-energization, and perform fault/trip diagnosis to establish root cause and resolution.
  • Reporting: Complete all performance and capacity testing, analysis of results and compile test reports.
  • Communication: Interface with internal and external customers to ensure consistent communication, and manage equipment supplier and host daily plan of day (POD) with each supplier.
