Job Description
  • Lead a team of catering staff to provide high-quality facility-based catering services that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
  • Develop and implement menus, food plans, and kitchen operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of meals.
  • Work closely with the executive chef to plan and execute special events and occasions, such as holiday meals and themed dining experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies by maintaining accurate records and conducting regular audits.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including nursing, activities, and facilities, to ensure seamless coordination of services and support resident-centered care.

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the Food and Kitchen department. This includes:

  • Supervising kitchen staff, providing training, guidance, and feedback to ensure excellent performance and service quality.
  • Coordinating the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals to meet resident dietary needs and preferences.
  • Managing inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling kitchen expenses to maintain budgetary targets.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environments that meet regulatory standards.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to residents, families, and visitors.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience in a senior leadership position.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams, develop and implement menus, and coordinate kitchen operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of food safety principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
