We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of CAD Technician, working on creating laser projection files from 3D models to support accurate markout and alignment for maritime projects.
- This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your knowledge of CAD, 3D modelling, and laser projection in shipbuilding or construction, as well as surveying, build sequencing, and design revision control systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for combining 3D models, survey data, and build sequences using Windchill, Foran, and BuildIT to create accurate laser projection files. They will also extract and layer model elements for accurate markout aligned to job cards and build phases, maintain revision control and upload documentation using Windchill, and liaise with Planning and Design, and support Production with onsite target setup and projection guidance.
- A key aspect of this role is troubleshooting model issues, mentoring staff, and improving projection processes to ensure efficient and effective outcomes.
In addition to technical skills, the successful candidate will possess strong communication and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
The Defence security clearance required for this role means that applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances. Further information regarding security clearances can be found online.
