As an Apprentice Spray Painter at Wales Bus Repairs, you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced Spray Painters to learn the skills and techniques required to produce high-quality finishes on heavy vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning, sanding, and masking vehicle surfaces to prepare them for paint
  • Mixing and matching paint colors to accurately match desired colors
  • Using spray guns and other equipment to apply paint evenly and smoothly onto vehicle surfaces
  • Applying primers and sealers to promote paint adhesion, prevent rust, and create a solid foundation for the topcoat
  • Applying multiple layers of paint, including basecoat, clearcoat, and other specialized coatings
  • Skilfully blending new paint into existing areas
  • Performing detailed touch-ups to correct imperfections
  • Creating special textures, patterns, or effects using different techniques
  • Monitoring and controlling drying and curing processes
  • Inspecting painted surfaces for flaws
  • Following all safety policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate PPE is worn at all times
