Job Overview

The National Museum of Australia is embarking on a digital strategy to create a world-leading digital museum. This involves multiple streams of digital delivery across collections, experience, and technology.

To support this strategy, the museum is seeking policies, infrastructure, systems, skills, and standards to collect and preserve digitized and digital cultural collections.

This initiative will enable new capability in digital preservation and provide a structure for long-term capacity building.

The museum will use information from the Request for Information (RFI) to identify vendors capable of providing a functional Trusted Digital Repository as part of its Digital Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the museum's digital strategy
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements for digital collection management
  • Research and recommend policies, infrastructure, systems, skills, and standards for digital preservation
  • Evaluate vendor proposals for Trusted Digital Repositories

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in digital preservation, collection management, or related field
  • Strong understanding of digital repository technologies and standards
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
