Barista Mentor for Individuals with Disabilities

VMCH, a leading social enterprise, is seeking a skilled Barista Mentor to join our innovative Café in Melbourne. As a Barista Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to develop their job skills and independence in a real-life work environment.
About the Role:
This is a casual position that reports directly to the Café Community Team Leader. You will be responsible for providing hands-on mentoring to trainees, helping them build their self-confidence, barista, and customer service skills. Your ultimate goal is to empower these individuals to secure employment in the future.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced hospitality professional who has a passion for working with people with disabilities. You should have previous experience as a barista and food preparation, excellent customer service skills, and a Certificate III Individual Support - Disability or relevant experience in the disability sector. You must also possess a current Food Safety Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain) and Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (or willingness to obtain). Furthermore, you should have evidence of relevant vaccinations, including flu vaccination & COVID, and hold a Victorian Working with Children's Check, NDIS Screening Check, and Valid Victorian Driver's License.
Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is around $65,000 - $80,000 AUD, depending on your experience and qualifications. This amount reflects the average industry rate for similar positions in Melbourne.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support to trainees in developing their barista and customer service skills
- Mentor individuals with disabilities to enhance their confidence and employability
- Work collaboratively with the Café Community Team Leader to ensure the smooth operation of the trainee program
- Ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard and meet the necessary safety and quality requirements
