Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Learning Specialist to join our professional and collaborative learning community. As a Learning Specialist, you will be responsible for modeling excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons, mentoring and coaching teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning: Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice, and model exemplary classroom practice through teaching demonstration lessons.
  • Professional Learning: Lead and model the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery, and provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice, and model effective learning practice and support teachers to seek, analyze, and act on feedback and on their practice.
  • Student Support: Provide expert advice about the context, processes, and strategies that will shape individual and school professional learning, and supervise and train one or more student teachers and mentor and/or coach teachers.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
  • Desirable Qualifications: A graduate or postgraduate qualification in special/inclusive education and/or disability.
