Senior Associate Dean

The Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine's Cape Breton Medical Campus is seeking a highly qualified Senior Associate Dean to lead the academic mission of the campus. As a key member of the campus leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for advancing the vision, mission, and objectives of the campus, ensuring operational readiness, and overseeing the execution of the undergraduate medical education program.
Key Responsibilities:- Represent the Faculty of Medicine in Cape Breton, serving as the agent and spokesperson for the university.
- Collaborate with the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and other campus leaders to advance the strategic mission of the campus.
- Work with the Steering Committee Co-Chairs and other campus leads to ensure effective governance and decision-making.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the health of rural Nova Scotians through effective working relationships with government departments, healthcare organizations, and community partners.
- Lead the development and implementation of academic programs, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals and objectives.
- Medical doctorate or equivalent degree.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a senior leadership position in a clinical or health education setting.
- Graduate degree with a research focus in medical education or business administration (an asset).
- Experience in family medicine and/or rural medicine, as well as demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical education and research principles and practice.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups and within community.
- Commitment to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- A five-year, renewable term with a continuing academic appointment in the department.
