
Heavy Diesel Equipment Technician

This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in an exciting 8:6 FIFO role, overseeing maintenance and mechanical modifications to equipment tailored to meet customer specifications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertake planned and ad hoc inspections on the condition of products as required
- Installation and commissioning of products in workshop/yards and mine sites
- Predictive and reactive service, maintenance, and repair of equipment as required
- Complete general maintenance, repairs, and component change-outs on a variety of surface mining equipment
- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and parts of power generation equipment by troubleshooting and provide professional advice as required
- Mechanically modify equipment to meet customer specifications
- Assemble equipment including pumps and power generation equipment
- Reassemble diesel engines and parts after repairs
- Repair and rebuild assets as required to company specifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Basic welding knowledge
- Programming / Protection analysis skills
- Mechanical testing experience
- Ability to read complex schematics
- Ability to work in a team or independently
- Ability to work in a remote setting
- Understanding of regulatory requirements
- Problem solving / Troubleshooting skills
Requirements include:
- Current Nationally Accredited Confined Space Ticket (within 2 years)
- Current WA HR Class Drivers Licence
- Trade Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Mobile Plant Equipment Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology)
- A minimum of 3 years experience on mine sites, performing service in mobile equipment and driving to field service
- A minimum of 3 years experience of servicing and diagnostics experience gained in heavy vehicle, mining, heavy construction, materials handling, or similar heavy industry
- Nationally Accredited Work Safely at Heights
- A minimum of 3 years experience working with heavy diesel engine diagnosis, rebuild, and repair
- A minimum of 3 years experience diagnosing and rectifying fieldbus circuits in mobile and stationary plant and equipment
- Clear National Police Clearance
