About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at Talent International. As a key member of our digital programs, you will play a critical role in modernizing and transforming our digital government services to meet the needs of the South Australian community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and plan systems infrastructure to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of all systems, including hands-on configuration of complex components.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure high availability of systems to citizens and agencies that rely on them.
  • Automate tasks, deployment, and test by creating infrastructure as code, and maintaining the quality of code produced.
  • Communicate effectively to leadership and development teams the resulting new policies and oversee the implementation.
  • Promote team cohesion, productivity, and collaboration, as a leader within Digital Programs, and act as a digital ambassador by supporting the recruitment of highly qualified staff and identifying best practices within the industry.
Requirements
  • Experience with UNIX-like operating systems and technologies used for web applications, e.g. Linux, databases, backups, CDNs.
  • Can demonstrate a working familiarity with at least one programming language such as Typescript, Java, Python, Javascript, .NET.
  • Significant experience in managing public cloud services particularly Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS.
  • Experience with public cloud services and the use of orchestration tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, GitOps
  • Familiarity with working practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration and continuous delivery
  • Significant experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role in large and complex organisations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of integration technology, automation and cloud coding languages.
  • Significant experience in networking security, databases and cloud systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in scripting languages, system and server administration and mass system deployments.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant government policy and agency procedures and their application in relation to operations and enterprise ICT infrastructure, systems, functionality and implementation strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage effectively in an environment of change by providing leadership, coordination, consultation, motivation, delegation and monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a particular focus on building relationships and developing shared understanding.
  • Proven ability to work under broad direct direction exercising significant level of initiative and decision making in complex operation matters with the context of established corporate goals and government policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team with multiple priorities and tight timeframes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of the relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including Code of Ethics, EEO and cultural inclusion.
  • An understanding of the legislative requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.
  • An understanding of and ability to work/manage to the spirit and principles of AS ISO 31000:2018 Risk management – Guidelines.
