City Infrastructure Legal Advisor

Transurban Group is a leading provider of city-sized solutions, building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads to solve pressing transport challenges. We're seeking a skilled Corporate Counsel to support our delivery of the West Gate Tunnel Project in Melbourne.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced legal professional to join our innovative team. You'll work closely with our Victorian Government partners to develop and deliver this major project. As a key member of our Transurban Legal team, you'll provide high-quality legal advice to support the continued delivery and integration of the WGT Project.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal advice on contract administration, claims management, commercial transactions, regulatory issues, and external legal adviser management.
- Assist with the drafting of relevant documentation, including contracts and agreements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while aligning with our business objectives.
- BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH STAKEHOLDERS both within the organization and externally.
- Represent Transurban in meetings or communications with external stakeholders.
You will be responsible for managing legal risks and ensuring maximum alignment with our business objectives. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interpret legislation and apply it effectively to relevant business operations.
Requirements- Prior experience working in a law firm or corporate sector, preferably in construction law, major projects (including Public Private Partnerships), and litigation/dispute resolution matters.
- A Law degree and qualification as a lawyer in Australia or comparable jurisdiction.
- Admission as a solicitor in Australia and current practicing certificate.
- Strong technical skills, with experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
- Ability to interpret legislation and apply it clearly and effectively to relevant business operations.
- Proactive approach to managing legal risk.
