We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Advisor to join our team at NSW Health. As a Clinical Advisor, you will play a critical role in providing medical expertise in infection prevention and control and infectious diseases to support the Chief ICP and the work of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical expertise as required across directorates within the CEC to support Infection Prevention and Control and the broader CEC safety and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, particularly at a Local Health District and Speciality Network level, to facilitate a culture of safety and the measurement of the quality of care.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control and infectious diseases.
- Collaborate with other teams to identify and implement best practices in infection prevention and control and infectious diseases.
- Provide education and training to healthcare staff on infection prevention and control and infectious diseases.
- Registered medical practitioner qualified as Specialists under the Staff Specialists (State) Award and with extensive specialist clinical experience related to infection prevention and control and infectious diseases or clinical microbiology.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and motivational skills which demonstrate a capacity to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment and demonstrated capacity to be a high-profile advocate for the improvement of healthcare quality and safety standards in NSW.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of clinical systems and health services, including understanding of human and other factors impacting on quality and safety.
- High level of understanding of public health policy issues including evidence-based practice, health care quality, health service evaluation, health care funding and resource allocation.
- Proven ability to analyse and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data and research evidence from a range of sources to make recommendations and inform decision-making that has long-term impacts.
