Senior Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Open Pit Drill & Blast Engineering team at Evolution Mining's Cowal operation. Reporting to the Superintendent - Technical Services, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality drill and blast designs, managing reporting routines, and providing technical guidance to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement cost-effective drill and blast designs that maximize ore recovery and ensure safety.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the Operations and Mining Engineering teams to enhance collaboration and improve drill and blast performance.
- Design, implement, and review quality control and quality assurance specifications and documentation for drill and blast operations.
- Monitor and reconcile drill and blast performance against design parameters, including explosives, drilling rates, and cost.
- Develop and improve systems and procedures for the drill and blast function, including quality assurance and control processes.
- Authorise Drill and Blast plans, including blast masters, drill designs, and tie-in designs.
- Provide input to short-term, weekly, and budget plans, and assist with daily production planning.
- Scope, lead, and implement site Drill and Blast projects.
- Champion Evolution Mining's Values and commitment to Safety, Environment, Inclusion and Diversity, and Emissions Reduction (Net Zero).
To be considered for this role, you must hold tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role. You must be proficient with mine design and drill and blast software, as well as wall control blasting techniques. You should possess a high degree of safety awareness, proven hazard identification, and risk assessment skills. You will have a strong understanding of safety systems and open pit production mining methods, and have demonstrated business improvement experience with tangible results.
