Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a laboratory assistant. This role requires delivering essential support to staff within the Chemistry and Physical Sciences Technical Services team to achieve effective, safe, and sustainable operations in various laboratory facilities.

This position involves developing effective working relationships across a range of faculty and university communities, contributing to the ongoing improvement of work processes, and providing high-quality support to facilitate the delivery of research projects and programs.

About the Role:

  • To assist with the coordination and management of laboratory activities, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining laboratory equipment
  • To provide administrative support to the Chemistry and Physical Sciences Technical Services team, including preparing reports, answering queries, and responding to requests
  • To assist with the development and implementation of work processes, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and university policies
  • To work effectively with diverse groups to deliver quality service and support
  • To maintain accurate records and databases, and to provide data analysis and reporting as required

Requirements:

  • Completion of an associate diploma or equivalent experience; or a combination of relevant experience and/or education/training preferably in a laboratory or industry research environment
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate to achieve team-based outcomes in a changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality client service
  • Proven ability to analyze, adapt, and problem solve
  • Holding a current driver's license is preferred
