General Anaesthesia Fellowships
At our institution, we offer exposure to a breadth of clinical experience in anaesthesia. Fellows can expect to gain experience in major trauma and burns anaesthesia, as well as anaesthesia for general, hepatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal surgery, vascular anaesthesia, neurosurgical anaesthesia, and anaesthesia for Head and Neck/ENT and ophthalmological surgery.
As a General Anaesthesia Fellow, you will participate in a 1/14 roster, which includes allocation to other hospitals on average once a fortnight. You will function as a junior consultant and work approximately 86 hours per fortnight, including on-calls and out-of-hours work.
We have a strong focus on ongoing education and training. You will participate in weekly teaching afternoons, workshops, presentations, and quality improvement sessions.
There are opportunities to become involved in various portfolios, including simulation, quality assurance, airway education, allergy clinic and welfare. You will also be expected to supervise junior trainees in theatre and participate in our education programs.
A very active research unit exists within the department, offering ample opportunity for interested trainees to become involved.
