About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Engineer - Mechanical to join our Fixed Plant Maintenance Reliability Team at BHP Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving defect elimination, improvement initiatives, and identifying opportunities to support safe and reliable fixed plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support by applying Reliability Centered Maintenance principles to drive defect elimination, improvement initiatives, and identify opportunities to support safe and reliable fixed plant operations.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with the fixed plant maintenance, production, planning, inventory, and engineering teams to ensure success in this role.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Guide and facilitate root cause analysis from identified gaps in equipment and work management performance, ensuring corrective actions/recommendations are in place to prevent recurrence of identified failure modes.
  • Initiative Identification: Identify and drive initiatives/projects to capture value across: Safety, Volume, Cost, and Culture, with a focus on improving MTBF, equipment availability, and direct cost savings.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical support and guidance to Fixed Plant Maintenance teams.
  • Budget Forecasting: Provide input into Maintenance budget forecasting and review equipment critical spares.
  • Asset Management: Manage End-to-End asset life cycle and consistently optimize asset management strategies to deliver business requirements.
  • BOS Principles: Support and be an advocate for BHP Operating System (BOS) Principles and Practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive outcomes to deliver business goals.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Engineering.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to influence, engage, and communicate with stakeholders effectively across all levels of the business, from frontline employees to senior management.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions utilizing continuous improvement processes.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient-level of experience with all Microsoft Office Applications & 1SAP.
  • Management of Change: Ability to apply management of change and risk principles.
  • Leadership: Willingness and ability to learn, adapt to change, and step-up as a leadership delegate when required.
  • Reliability Experience: Solid experience as a Reliability Engineer or Maintenance Engineer within the mining, or oil & gas sector will be highly advantageous.
