Job Title: College Counsellor/Social Worker - Wellbeing Team Member
Job Summary: St Mary's College is seeking a Counsellor, Social Worker or Mental Health Clinician to join the College wellbeing team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the wellbeing of our students, including assessment and service planning, casework, counselling, and liaison with parents and carers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the wellbeing of students through assessment and service planning, casework, counselling, and liaison with parents and carers.
- Develop and implement Behaviour Support Plans, Attendance Plans, and Social/Emotional Plans.
- Provide in-class lessons and sessions to support student wellbeing.
- Collaborate with the wellbeing team to promote a positive and supportive school environment.
- Participate in co-curricular activities and model the Catholic ethos and traditions of the College.
Requirements:
- Relevant 4-year tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, or Mental Health.
- Post-graduate qualification in mental health desirable.
- Experience in an educational setting with Trauma Sensitive Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Possess the ability to be a proactive and collaborative member of a team.
- Demonstrated experience in an educational setting with Trauma Sensitive Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
- Be prepared to participate in co-curricular activities.
- Model and maintain the Catholic ethos and traditions of the College.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students experiencing difficulties.
- A warm, welcoming and friendly disposition.
- Maintain a high standard of confidentiality.
- Work independently with minimal direction.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Use computer applications for administration and demonstrate a willingness to embrace new technologies.
- Ability to demonstrate high standards of clinical rigour in assessment, intervention, case management and risk assessment and mitigation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health, trauma informed practices, multi-tiered systems of support and current wellbeing methodologies.
- Counselling, Social Work or Mental Health Clinician qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and eligibility for membership of associated professional bodies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant 4-year tertiary qualifications.
- Post-graduate qualification in mental health desirable.
- Qualification and/or experience in education or related field.
- Knowledge/experience in trauma-informed practices or completed BSEM training.
- Gatekeeper Training and experience in risk assessment and risk management planning.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
- Current Senior First Aid.
