The Role

As a key leader in our First Nations and Inclusion Branch, you will contribute to policy development, program implementation, and direct support services that positively impact job seekers, employees, and the economy.

There are two Assistant Director roles available: First Nations Policy and First Nations Partnership.

First Nations Policy

You will design and deliver Closing the Gap policy initiatives in partnership with First Nations organisations and communities. Your collaboration with internal and external stakeholders will inform policy advice and support delivery of the Closing the Gap skills policy reform agenda.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading policy development and complex problem-solving
  • Overseeing and analysing interrelated Commonwealth government Closing the Gap policy initiatives
  • Managing and overseeing the delivery and evaluation of First Nations-led projects
First Nations Partnership

You will work in partnership with the Coalition of Peaks to provide joint secretariat support for the First Nations Skills and Vocational Education and Training (VET) Interim Partnership Committee.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a program of work for the Interim Committee
  • Drafting and maintaining Terms of Reference
  • Preparing communications for members and stakeholders
