About the Role

Woodleigh School is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching English across year levels 7-12 and contributing to the school's Camp and Activities programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and reporting requirements.
  • Teaching Strategies: Develop teaching activities that incorporate differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities.
  • ICT Integration: Use effective teaching strategies to integrate ICT into learning and teaching programs to make selected content relevant and meaningful.
  • Lesson Planning: Plan and implement well-structured learning and teaching programs or lesson sequences that engage students and promote learning.
  • Student Feedback: Provide timely, effective, and appropriate feedback to students about their achievement relative to their learning goals.
  • Classroom Environment: Establish and maintain orderly and workable routines to create an environment where student time is spent on learning tasks.
  • Professional Development: Contribute to collegial discussions and apply constructive feedback from colleagues to improve professional knowledge and practice.
Selection Criteria
  • Understanding of Appropriate Behaviours: Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
  • Teaching Experience: Possess relevant classroom teaching experience or experience working with children.
  • Professional Practice: Demonstrate professional practice that is strongly aligned with the expectations of The Woodleigh Teacher.
  • Subject Expertise: Have experience teaching VCE English (Years 11 & 12), with a capacity to teach English Literature.
  • Curriculum Design: Have experience in designing, implementing, and assessing effective curriculum.
  • International Baccalaureate Experience: Have experience in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.

  • VIT Registration: Hold a VIT Registration.
  • Qualification and First Aid Training: Hold qualification and First Aid Training confirmation.
