Specialist Emergency Medicine Position Available

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at John Hunter Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing high-quality care to patients with acute medical conditions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for admitting, consulting, diagnosing, and treating patients in the Emergency Department. They will also participate in education and research activities, contributing to the development of clinical skills and knowledge within the department.
This is a fixed-term position, available for 12 months. The role includes guaranteed rostered weekend and evening shifts, providing a stable and predictable schedule for the right candidate.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM)
- FRACP Paediatrician with a Specialisation in Emergency Medicine (FRACP PEM)
- Clinical responsibility for patient care, including admitting, consulting, diagnosing, and treating patients
- Education and research responsibilities, including contributing to training, supervision, and ongoing clinical education
- Opportunity to work in a major trauma and tertiary referral hospital, serving a population of over 900,000 across the Hunter, New England, and Lower Mid North Coast regions
- Diverse caseload, including paediatrics, major trauma, critical care, and retrieval services
- Strong research and training links, with collaborations with the Hunter Medical Research Institute and the University of Newcastle
- Cutting-edge retrieval service, in partnership with the Hunter Retrieval Services, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, and NSW Ambulance
- State-of-the-art facilities, transitioning to a new Acute Services Building in late 2026, featuring an expanded Emergency Department
- Digital innovation, participating in the pilot program for NSW Health's Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR), launching in early 2026
