Job Overview

This is a specialist role in our Microbiology laboratory where we provide a full microbiological service for the diagnosis of infection. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Biomedical Scientist who can lead on service improvement, manage day-to-day activities and work flexibly according to service needs.

We have over 50 members of staff and work closely with other laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Biomedical Scientist for specialist area
  • Manage and coordinate day-to-day activities of the team
  • Leads on service improvement initiatives
  • Processes specialist investigations and ensures standard and quality of results
  • Provides specialist advice to clinicians
  • Provides training and advanced trouble shooting for specialist area
  • Work flexibly according to service needs

The role involves working with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals.
