Energy Systems Planner

Australia's energy future is shaped by innovation and collaboration. As a key player in this endeavor, you will lead the development of high-quality network planning insights and technical advisory services for Victoria's declared transmission system.
The successful candidate will drive necessary investments to support the power system's transition to net zero emissions and enable the connection of new generation and loads, working closely with VicGrid, other stakeholders, network service providers, and government agencies.
- Deliver Victorian Transmission Network Service Provider (TNSP) planning obligations, including the Victorian Annual Planning Report (VAPR), Annual Fault Level Review (AFLR), system security planning, and network augmentation needs.
- Provide strategic and technical advice on Victorian transmission planning to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Lead joint planning with VicGrid distributors, other TNSPs, and AEMO's Integrated System Plan team.
- Oversee technical services for Victorian connections and advisory support for VicGrid and the Victorian Government.
This role requires a deep understanding of technical issues in electricity system planning and operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project planning, reporting, and delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards.
About the RoleAs a pivotal figure in shaping Australia's energy landscape, you will champion engineering and infrastructure planning to consolidate diverse stakeholder plans into a single, published transmission plan while fostering strong industry relationships.
The Manager will provide strategic guidance on Victorian transmission planning, leveraging expertise in power system planning to ensure safe, reliable, and affordable energy today and tomorrow.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering.
- Significant experience in power system planning, with strong understanding of technical issues in electricity system planning and operations.
- Proven leadership of geographically dispersed teams through transformation, delivering high-quality outcomes and reporting to senior management.
- Advanced consulting and communication skills, with ability to engage diverse stakeholders and negotiate complex technical matters.
Additional qualifications include excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
