Residential Nursing Care Specialist


Job Description:

The Residential Nursing Care Specialist will provide medical and health services to children in a youth residential facility. This includes conducting physical health assessments, supervising medication, responding to physician orders, and educating clients and their families on medication management.

This role requires strong knowledge of pediatric nursing, public health principles, and medical documentation procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a high level of emotional intelligence.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of an associate degree in nursing or bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in pediatric and/or public health nursing or licensed by the State of Ohio Nursing Board as a Registered Nurse (RN) is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may also be considered.
Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct physical health assessments and identify health disorders requiring medical attention.
  2. Supervise medication administration, respond to physician orders, and educate clients and their families on medication management.
  3. Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  4. Schedule medical appointments, transport children as needed, and obtain medication approval.
  5. Provide health education to residents, staff, and families on universal precautions, communicable diseases, and medication administration.
  6. Attend clinical and treatment team meetings to ensure seamless collaboration and coordination of care.

  • Knowledge of medical disorders and treatment responses.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental and familial factors impacting growth, development, and learning.
  • Knowledge of medical documentation and responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment.
