We are seeking an expert anaesthetist to join our dynamic clinical community at Northern Beaches Hospital, a world-class facility providing high-level delineation services for public and private patients.
The hospital features 486 beds, a 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, and four procedure rooms. Our state-of-the-art education and interactive SIM centre offers exceptional learning opportunities.

The Anaesthetics Department at Northern Beaches Hospital comprises approximately one hundred VMOs, six trainee registrars, two rotating registrars, and a dedicated departmental administration assistant. Our department has an excellent relationship with other critical care specialties, including Emergency and Intensive Care, and offers many shared educational sessions.
Job DescriptionThe Expert Anaesthetist will assist in providing high-level anaesthetic services within the Interventional Suite and the hospital Pain Service. This role requires provision of perioperative services both in the preadmission clinic and on the wards. Under direction and supervision, the expert anaesthetist will provide care and services to secure optimal health outcomes.
There is an expectation that this position will contribute to the departmental after-hours and on-call roster, including nights and weekends. This role offers an opportunity for further anaesthetic training in a supportive environment with the latest equipment and cutting-edge facilities.
Requirements- MBBS or equivalent qualification and registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Completion of four years of accredited ANZCA Training (or overseas equivalent)
- Successful completion of all training and ANZCA examination requirements (or overseas equivalent)
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management, along with sound working knowledge of legal and ethical obligations governing medical practice
- Demonstrated clinical competency and ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and problem-solving skills in the clinical setting as part of a multidisciplinary team
As an expert anaesthetist at Northern Beaches Hospital, you can expect a salary relevant to your clinical experience, ranging between $180,000 to $250,000 per annum, depending on your qualifications and level of experience.
