Phd Position In Advanced Environmental Monitoring

We are seeking a skilled PhD researcher to join our project at Swinburne University. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on an innovative project combining space technology, environmental science, and artificial intelligence.
The project involves detecting methane emissions from space using advanced neural network technology. This is a full-time, fixed-term position (3 years) based at our Hawthorn campus, with additional industry engagement and potential collaboration with research facilities.
As a PhD researcher, you will have access to cutting-edge expertise and facilities. You will work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and have strong communication skills, ability to write high-quality technical reports, and contribute to academic publications.
To be suitable for this role, you will need experience in training and implementing neural networks, analysing satellite imagery, working with large databases, developing image processing pipelines, programming, and strong communication skills.
You will also need to have completed an undergraduate degree in physics, computer science, machine learning, computational modelling, or similar fields.
