Our urban center serves as the CBD of Northern Adelaide, comprising diverse communities in new and established suburbs, rural areas, and horticultural lands.

We seek an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Building and Compliance team in the full-time ongoing role of Urban Development Specialist – Building. If you have expertise in Building Surveying and either hold or are eligible to obtain accreditation as a Building Level 1, 2 or 3, we encourage you to apply.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled professional who will contribute to all the exciting work our Building Team achieves. As a progressive and capable team, we value innovative thinking and collaboration.

  • Administering the requirements of the Building Code, Australian Standards, and the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and Regulations throughout the City of Playford.
  • Residential and commercial building inspections.
  • Assessment of both simple and complex developments against the Building Code.
  • Providing specialist technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Initiation of enforcement action in relation to breaches of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of building and compliance related activities.
  • High-level interpersonal, customer service, and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience undertaking building inspections.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Passion for public service, community safety, and compliance in the local community.
