Our organization is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking professional to join our team as part of our National Graduate Program.

Job Overview

This program offers a unique opportunity for graduates to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a graduate in this program, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing three rotations within our Legal Services Division to gain a broad knowledge of the legal issues faced by our agency;
  • Developing your skills and expertise through practical training and mentorship;
  • Working collaboratively with our team to achieve our goals and objectives.

In order to succeed in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor degree;
  • A Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice or eligibility to obtain one following commencement;
  • A weighted average mark of 60 or above.

If you hold one of these degrees, you can apply to both our legal and generalist streams. If assessed suitable for both, we will attempt to place you in the legal stream first. You will remain in this stream for the duration of the program. This opportunity is also available through the Australian Government Graduate Program, selecting Services Australia as your preference.

  • Employer superannuation contributions of 15.4%.

Eligibility for the program requires being an Australian citizen, having completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last five years, and having that degree recognized by the Department of Education if obtained overseas. Our agency boasts one of the largest in-house legal teams in the Commonwealth. Our Legal Services Division comprises over 90 dedicated lawyers and operational staff, operating across various specialized practice areas, including in-house legal advice on payments and services, specialized legal advice, focusing on privacy law and digital services, commercial law and employment law, privacy, Freedom of Information (FOI), and compensation claims, litigation, including advocacy in the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) and legal advice on ART matters.
