About the Opportunity
Stealth is the defining characteristic of a submarine, which provides the Collins Class submarine with the potency to effectively complete the missions required of the Royal Australian Navy. As a Senior Acoustic Engineer, you will lead and deliver complex engineering activities across all ASC projects.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing specialist advice and direction on submarine signatures performance, noise and vibration analysis, and design of equipment. You will also perform calculations and modelling, ranging from analytical to numerical techniques.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice and direction on submarine signatures performance, noise and vibration analysis, and design of equipment.
- Perform calculations and modelling, ranging from analytical to numerical techniques.
- Perform noise and vibration data collection, testing, analysis, and reporting.
- Develop or assist in the development of documentation, such as drawings, specifications, test and trials procedures, concessions, engineering reports, and work instructions.
- Investigate signatures defects and problems reported from submarines in service. Develop remedial and corrective designs and actions to overcome and prevent re-occurrence of these defects.
- Review or approve engineering solutions within your delegated Engineering Authority.
- Contribute to the CCSM life of type extension, update, and upgrade of systems, and in-service support of the fleet.
- Provide signatures engineering advice to management and other ASC departments as tasked.
Requirements
- A relevant Engineering Degree or relevant Science Degree and appropriate experience.
- Experience in acoustics, noise, and vibration control of machinery systems in the defence, marine, or industrial environment.
- Experience with signature and/or noise and vibration measurement equipment and analysis tools, such as Bruel and Kjaer PULSE, and modal analysis techniques.
- Experience with various engineering modelling tools and software packages, such as Finite Element and Boundary Element models, Matlab, LabView, etc.
- Ability to recognise and set appropriate priorities and work standards.
