Surgical Resident

About the Role:

This 12-month internship at Small Animal Specialist Hospital (Sash) is designed to provide practical experience in small animal surgery and advance your knowledge in the field. As a Surgery Intern, you will assist a team of specialist surgeons with diagnosis, surgical treatment, and post-operative care of surgical patients.

The surgery department will be resourced with state-of-the-art surgical equipment and brand-new theatres. Imaging is of the highest standard with digital radiology, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound all readily available. You will be further supported by our specialist radiology and anaesthesia teams.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in daily rounds and client communication
• Contribute to the preparation of patients for surgery
• Participate in post-operative care and monitoring
• Develop your skills in surgical techniques and patient management

About You:

We are looking for a passionate and motivated veterinarian who is eager to learn and develop their skills in small animal surgery. You will have a keen interest in surgery and a desire to work closely with our patients throughout their entire SASH journey.

Requirements:

• A Degree in Veterinary Science or Veterinary Medicine registrable in NSW
• A minimum of 1 year, full-time experience as a vet
• Desirable: Completed a rotating internship
