About Queensland Fire and Emergency Services

We are a unique emergency service agency responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland. Our services include fire and rescue, emergency management, and disaster response.

As an auxiliary firefighter with us, you will be part of a team that delivers high-quality services to the community. Your role will involve responding to emergencies, promoting community safety, and participating in regular training sessions.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency incidents, including fires and other disasters, in a safe and effective manner.
  • Promote community safety through education and awareness programs.
  • Develop and maintain your skills and competencies through regular training and drills.
  • Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
  • Operate specialist firefighting equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Contribute to the upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
  • Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.
  • Support incident reporting and general station administration.

Our Expectations

  • Actively participate in regular drills and training sessions.
  • Achieve a minimum 75% attendance rate for regular drill and training sessions.
  • Obtain a MRV licence within 12 months of employment.
  • Participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.
  • Comply with QFES policies and procedures, including code of conduct, safety, and personal presentation standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Australian Permanent Resident Status.
  • Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable).
  • Manual C Class driver's licence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary package, including an estimated $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also receive opportunities for professional development and career growth within our organisation.
