We are seeking a skilled Councillor Support Officer to join our team at Townsville City Council.

The successful candidate will provide high-level professional support to internal and external stakeholders regarding councillor community engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing advice and support on operational matters to Councillors and facilitating service-related communications between Councillors and the organisation.
  2. Assisting community organisations with small amounts of financial support through the Councillors' Discretionary Fund.
  3. Providing administrative support to Councillors to enable them to carry out their elected duties in an efficient and timely manner.

The ideal candidate will have a Certificate IV in Business and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a related or similar role, preferably in customer services/community engagement.

They will also have experience in public consultation, social media activity, and conducting or assisting in stakeholder consultation, including group facilitation.

Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship building and negotiation, are essential for this role.
