About the RoleThe Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Manager, Financial Accounting, to meet the deliverables of the Financial Accounting Team. This includes timely and accurate month-end close tasks, balance sheet reconciliation preparation, shareholder reporting, preparation of IFRS financial statements, accounting position papers, and supporting the external audit process.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process in collaboration with the Business Performance Management team and other key stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of financial and non-financial information to shareholders.
- Prepare Audit and Risk Committee accounting papers.
- Prepare technical accounting position papers.
- Compliance: Prepare ASIC statutory financial statements for entities.
- Prepare audit working papers and support management of the external audit.
- Prepare solvency declarations and shareholder distribution statements.
- Undertake financial accounting month-end activities such as posting general journals, intercompany eliminations, balance sheet reconciliation preparation, etc.
- Prepare tax effect accounting calculations and liaise with the Taxation Team to ensure accurate accounting of key tax positions.
- Participate in finance projects including system improvements and process efficiencies.
- Prepare accounting papers to support key accounting treatment/s.
- Update accounting policies and procedures as required.
- Advise business stakeholders on key accounting treatments to optimise commercial outcomes.
- Responsible for coaching and performance of two direct reports.
- Work collaboratively with the Manager, Financial Accounting to manage entities.
