Personal Care Worker Job Description

As a Personal Care Worker, you will play a vital role in enabling recipients to maintain their desired standards of personal care and hygiene.

  • Provide a range of personal care tasks based on assessed needs as determined by the care plan.
  • Encourage and promote recipients' independence and coping mechanisms.
  • Assist with medications within your scope of practice.
  • Apply medical aids as required.
  • Accurately document and record interactions with clients in their files after each visit.
  • Monitor clients' mental or physical health and provide feedback to the Registered Nurse if any changes are observed.
  • Seek clarification from the Registered Nurse whenever unsure of requirements or delegated roles.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be empathetic, and have the ability to work independently while also being a team player. A Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
