Primary Electrical Design Lead

The Primary Electrical Design Lead is responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs for high-voltage substations and transmission systems.

This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of electrical design principles, industry standards, and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of primary electrical systems, including layout planning, equipment selection, and integration of systems up to 500kV.
  • Prepare detailed design documentation, including single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and client-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive design integration.
  • Conduct technical reviews and feasibility studies to support project planning and execution.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in primary electrical design for high-voltage substations and transmission systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, and PLS-CADD.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical equipment and system configurations.
  • Experience in preparing technical specifications and conducting design reviews.
  • Familiarity with Australian grid codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration into transmission systems.
  • Exposure to international projects and standards.
