About the Role

The Senior Analyst for Load Forecasting is responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining short to medium-term electricity and gas demand forecasts. This role requires expertise in quantitative analysis and stakeholder interaction to ensure optimal profitability and risk management.

As a key member of the Integrated Portfolio Planning business unit, you will work closely with the Pricing Manager to achieve cross-collaboration between the Forecasting and Pricing teams. Your primary objective will be to drive gross margin through accurate and timely demand forecasts, enabling effective management of AGL's hedge position.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality forecasting systems and models to support Trading & Portfolio Management functions.
  • Provision of real-time load forecasting critical to facilitating gas nominations and power station dispatch.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced team members to broaden skills and create bench strength across the team.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to deliver outcomes that meet varying objectives.

About You

We are seeking an experienced Analyst who can develop innovative models and trading systems to drive AGL's ability to meet and exceed expectations on the changing energy market and emerging risks. You will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Mathematics, or Engineering and possess programming experience in Python, R, MATLAB, or SQL.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated mentoring capability amongst a diverse team of professionals.
  • Knowledge and experience in energy, financial, or commodity trading, or a quantitative discipline.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
