About the Magistrates' Court of Victoria
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria is a jurisdiction within Court Services and has a long history of providing justice for Victorians.
We determine over 300,000 cases per year at 51 venues. Our aim is to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to our community.
As a Trainee Court Registrar, you will be part of a workforce that facilitates justice in Victorian communities. You will provide administrative support to the judiciary and court users.
Your initial duties will include:
- Supporting the magistrate or judicial registrar in the courtroom
- Making announcements and swearing in witnesses
- Operating complex technology, including audio recording and case management systems
- Liaising with stakeholders such as police officers and legal representatives
- Coordinating movement of parties within a courtroom environment
You will also assist with administrative tasks outside of the courtroom, such as performing various administrative duties and coordinating the registry.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A confident and professional demeanor and public speaking skills
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Confidence using technology and experience with software systems
- A team-oriented approach and motivation to demonstrate service excellence
