The City of Canterbury-Bankstown is seeking an Executive Healthy Places Planner to lead efforts in integrating health-centred urban planning, design, and placemaking. This role focuses on ensuring residents and visitors remain healthy and protected in our rapidly urbanizing community.
Key Responsibilities:Develop an evidence-based healthy places and built environment framework.
Contribute to planning design controls to ensure they promote healthy placemaking and walkability.
Provide health-focused reviews of State Significant applications, development applications, and planning proposals.
Assess Place Plans and Master Plans for adherence to healthy placemaking principles and recommend improvements.
Mentor cross-sector partners and staff on healthy urban planning and track partnership outcomes.
Promote knowledge sharing and health policy development across Council, especially in transport planning.
Contribute to the development of Health Precincts around Bankstown and Canterbury Hospitals.
Requirements:Tertiary qualifications in urban planning, design, architecture, or a related field, with substantial experience in strategic planning for local or state government.
A deep understanding of how urban planning and design can prevent chronic diseases and enhance public health.
Demonstrated capability to oversee multiple projects, negotiate agreements, and shape senior-level policy.
Flexibility to collaborate with Canterbury-Bankstown, SWSLHD, and the Sydney LHD, and travel to key stakeholders as needed.
The ability to work autonomously, set strategic direction, and deliver results.
Expertise in managing competing priorities, tracking progress, and assessing outcomes.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
