Senior Clinical Mental Health Specialist

This is a key position available within our Mental Health Service. The role entails providing clinical expertise in the assessment and management of individuals presenting to the Emergency Department with acute mental health symptoms, co-morbid physical and mental health difficulties, or crisis situations requiring a mental health assessment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage patients presenting to the ED with acute mental health symptoms, co-morbid physical and mental health difficulties, or acute crisis situations requiring a mental health assessment.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including formulation and development of immediate management plans and strategies.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and carers.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.
- A minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in a mental health specialty.
- Sound knowledge and experience of assessing persons within an acute environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of nursing processes and their contributions to best practice principles.
- Proven clinical leadership skills within the Mental Health program.
