Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Education Program Director to lead our team at YMCA Shailer Park Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) in Brisbane, Queensland.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing an educational program that promotes children's well-being, development, and learning. This includes providing high-quality care, activities, and educational elements to children in the program, managing and promoting a team environment, and working within the YMCA of Brisbane Long Day Care services' philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the educational program and assessment with the support of Assistant Coordinator/Coordinator
  • Ensure children's learning and development informs the design of the educational program, and Educators facilitate and extend each child's learning and development;
  • Liaise effectively with parents, staff, and all internal and external stakeholders;
  • Make recommendations for improvements to educators' educational programs and practices;
  • Mentor and support educators understanding of the educational program and practice including how to reflect on the effectiveness of their programs, interactions, intentional teaching, and other strategies;
  • Ensure compliance with policy;
  • Undertake administrative requirements;
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent and demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education;
  • Sound experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting;
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of the approved learning framework;
  • Ability to coach and mentor others;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of child development, attachment, learning;
  • A demonstrated understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning;
  • Working knowledge of leadership theory and the use of a range of leadership styles;
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyse and challenge conventional practice and ideas;
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification;
  • A Blue Card or willingness to obtain one.

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $85,000 - $95,000 per annum, based on industry standards and location.
