Purpose of Position

The Physiotherapist role is a consolidation position aimed at building skills and knowledge in hand therapy. This role also provides opportunities to understand the business-related activities crucial to managing a clinic. The role may require autonomy at times and demands a thorough understanding of policies, procedures, and treatment guidelines to effectively treat our patients.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical:

  • Deliver outstanding clinical upper limb treatment services, including thorough assessment/examination, diagnosis, individualized interventions, and the use of safe, current techniques/modalities to achieve and maintain improved functional outcomes for all patients.
  • Apply independent clinical judgment to complex upper limb injuries under the supervision and guidance of the Clinic Manager or Director.
  • Examine graduate staff on clinical guidelines and assist them in understanding the anatomy and biomechanics of the upper limb.
  • Assist graduates with clinical skills, such as splinting and clinical reasoning, ensuring they meet the requirements of patient care and our organization's guidelines.
  • Work with the Clinic Manager to set, communicate, and achieve performance targets, goals, and objectives.
  • Prescribe and provide appropriate equipment for patients.

Personal/Professional Development:

  • Actively pursue professional development opportunities and attend at least two professional development courses per year.
  • Participate in all scheduled internal professional development and clinical activities planned throughout the year.
  • Assist the Clinic Manager with student supervision.
  • Initiate and complete one quality improvement activity (research) per year.

Continuous Quality Improvement:

  • Maintain and improve external relationships with surgeons, surgical staff, GPs, reception, and secretarial staff.
  • Contribute to our organization's social media presence to develop team spirit and market services.
  • Communicate with referrers at all new appointments and respond to requests on the day.
  • Promote outstanding interpersonal relationships within our organization and with all external stakeholders.
  • Liaise regularly with the Clinic Manager or Administration team on patient and administrative matters.
  • Attend team meetings as required.

Documentation and Administration:

  • Manage own diary with appropriate clinical time (30-minute appointments, 85/15 split).
  • Complete patient notes and billing on the day of consultation.
  • Accurately enter all patient information on the day of the consult.
  • Complete all WorkCover (WC) and Transport Accident Commission (TAC) paperwork by the second session, following our organization's policies.
  • Maintain awareness of new patients and adhere to all policies regarding new patient booking and review.
  • Understand and manage debtors and costs of staff leave according to our organization's policies.
  • Assist in ensuring the clinic meets agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist with ordering clinic stock and maintain clinic cleanliness as per policies and procedures.
  • Follow all our organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating a commitment to best practice.

Customer Service/Teamwork and Communication:

  • Participate in the Monthly Marketing and Procedure Meeting.
  • Assist the Clinic Manager with fortnightly performance audits.
  • Manage diary effectively, ensuring a minimum utilization rate of 80%.
