Job Title: Behaviour Support Technician

The role of a Behaviour Support Technician is to provide high-level, evidence-based behaviour support to individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching and modelling on-the-floor to stakeholders to ensure competence in support strategies.
  • Develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Positive Behaviour Support Plans, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with practitioners to implement written behaviour reduction plans.
  • Collect observational data and notes to inform refinement of behaviour strategies.
  • Ensure compliant implementation of approved Restrictive Practices under practitioner guidance.
Requirements:
  • Experience in disability support, particularly with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge of State Disability Services Act and National Quality and Safeguards Framework related to restrictive practices and positive behaviour support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support individuals in emotionally charged situations.
Qualifications:
  • Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of Registered Behaviour Technician Course (40 hours).
