About the Role

The Cyber Security Specialist provides specialized security design and assurance services to support projects across operational technology (OT) and corporate IT environments. This role enhances the organization's capability and ensures digital solutions are designed, integrated, and functioning safely and securely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Consultancy: Provide expert technical cybersecurity consultancy on complex IT and OT security matters, utilizing industry best practices and frameworks.
  • Design and Development: Develop and maintain technical cybersecurity design artifacts (e.g., security patterns, operating procedures, policies, and standards) to ensure the secure design and delivery of digital solutions across projects and business-as-usual (BAU) activities.
  • Solution Assurance: Consult with Solution Architects and OT Designers to ensure IT and OT solutions meet established cybersecurity standards and policies.
  • Cyber Assurance Activities: Actively drive cyber assurance activities to ensure internal and external architectures and operations comply with cybersecurity standards and expectations.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive cyber risk assessments, communicate risks and exposures to key stakeholders, and engage both internal and external parties to manage cyber risks within acceptable parameters.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on risk and security exposure, architectural compliance, gaps, and assurance for key stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure cybersecurity measures enable business objectives securely.
  • Business Engagement: Engage with business stakeholders to provide cybersecurity advice and ensure business initiatives align with cybersecurity requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in cybersecurity practices and processes.
  • Compliance: Adhere to relevant policies and procedures and comply with work health and safety regulations.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the cybersecurity program and business objectives.
Essentials
  • Cybersecurity Business Engagement: Proven capability to engage with business stakeholders to achieve outcomes in a cyber-safe manner.
  • IAM/IDAM Expertise: Experience in implementing and managing Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions in large-scale environments (1000+ accounts), including hybrid and cloud-based setups.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a cybersecurity role, with at least 3 years in architecture, design, or consulting positions.
  • Security Frameworks: In-depth knowledge and practical experience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, IEC 62443, and the Australian Essential 8.
  • Certifications: Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills in cybersecurity tools, technologies, and best practices, including risk assessments and security architecture.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and influence effectively to achieve security objectives.
  • Problem-Solving and Initiative: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate effectively and build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Initiative and Time Management: High level of initiative with the ability to manage and deliver multiple outcomes simultaneously and independently within specified time frames.
Desirables
  • Critical Infrastructure Experience: Previous experience working within the Critical Infrastructure sector, with knowledge of IT/OT integration challenges and opportunities.
  • Architectural Qualifications: Relevant architectural qualifications (e.g., SABSA, TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF).
  • Cloud Security Knowledge: Working knowledge of Azure and AWS technology and security stacks.
